What is the best diet for a Parakeet pair that are rearing young?
hedgemaid asked:
My parakeets have four babies so far and are feeding away and the babies look big and healthy. Is there any extras they (the Mom and Dad) might need in their diet right now?

You can give them a daily bowl of small chopped, carrots, apples, corn, peas, grapes, celery tops. You can buy a bag of 15 bean soup and cook according to directions without the season packet, rinse a can of whole corn and add to it. Cool the mixture and give them about 2 Tablespoons daily. This soft food is easy for them to regurgitate to babies. If you give any canned veggie be sure to rinse them. You can also use frozen veggies chopped small for convenience. Run under hot water and drain.
