Diet Coke is full of unwanted chemicals…Stick with water (no calories–and no chemicals–depending on source). nakedtruth

it dosesnt really make you lose weight, but its so good for you. it mosterizes ur skin and its just healthy. soda has artifical sweeteners that are bad for you, but i dont know what it does weight-loss wise. livingdeadgirl11

some studies have shown that the aspartame contained in diet coke may cause harmful side effects…but doesn’t everything these days? Billy T!

calorie wise they are both 0 calories. however you might want to have a look at the chemicals in the diet soda…Sodium is a big one. If you can’t pronounce it then leave it out. Carbonated drinks may also have a negative effect on your tooth enamel, over time, as well. Voice Of Experience

Water is necessary & good for you.
    Coke is a carbonated beverage!
Artificial sweeteners are worse than sugar. Robert S

They both have no calories, but diet coke has God-knows-what chemicals, and you can find out your tap water chemicals from the local govt.
Get over yourself, not everything that goes into your mouth should taste sweet.
If you lose the canned drinks, after about two weeks you’ll find that other clean food tastes better. This will be a real help for you to start eating like an animal instead of a chemical, and the weight loss will be easier. juliejuliejulie

If you look at the ingredients one by one (i do this a lot.. i love diet coke/pepsi but the ingredients are horrible!!)
the phosphoric acid is supposed to be depleting the calcium from your bones
    There is caffeine in it
There are artificial flavors in there (and you have no idea what that means)
the acid is HORRIble for your teeth
The artificial sugars are a chemical (and i am still a fan of them but..)

when you have something that TASTES sweet and you really aren’t getting any sugar energy from it, your brain is going to be a little “Tricked”.. you are going to want to eat more than you did before.
If you are just drinking it out of thirst instead of water, then it is okay.. however it wont hydrate you anyway because it has caffeine which is a diuretic.

But i choose diet cola sometimes because it is more interesting than water.

From a dieting standpoint, just dont drink it in place of something else when you are HUNGRY.. becuase that will trick your brain into wanting to eat even more than you would have if you ate something (or drank some real juice) in the first place Carrie

In addition on a small scale carbinated beverages promote muscle decay so you’ll lose a bit of muscle mass and thus your metabolsm would be burning less calories but it would be unnoticed unless you kept track over a long period of time. The sodium which is salt (sodium chloride) salt even tho it has no calories if consumed in great amounts can increase your body fat. ryan

You’re right, neither have calories. However, in addition to all kinds of chemicals that no one needs, all sodas leech calcium from your bones. As a woman, especially, this is of major concern due to osteoporosis. Stick to the water: it helps with keeping your skin moisturized, helps maintain your body’s chemical balances, and keeps you feeling full. Water may not be so incredibly tasty, but it sure is good for you! Have you tried slicing fresh oranges and floating them in your water? Or what about sliced lemon or lime? Seltzer water can be a great alternative as well. It’s fizzy like soda, has no calories, and comes in all kinds of flavors — it’s also sodium free! questioner123

Now the question is, would you rather have a Coke or a glass of water

    Coke or Water?

    Author Unknown

NaturoDoc Note: From our clinical observations, the claims made in this email message circulating around the Internet are true, and they apply to any of the popular soft drinks containing phosphoric acid — Coca-Cola, Pepsi, Dr. Pepper, 7-Up, as well as the many knockoff brands.

For those who watch what they eat and drink, this is really an eye-opener. We all know that water is important, but we’ve never seen it written down like this before.

    About water:
75 percent of Americans are chronically dehydrated.

In 37 percent of Americans, the thirst mechanism is so weak that it is often mistaken for hunger.

Even MILD dehydration will slow down one’s metabolism as much as 3%.

One glass of water will shut down midnight hunger pangs for almost 100 percent of the dieters studied in a University of Washington study.

Lack of water is the Number 1 trigger of daytime fatigue.

Preliminary research indicates that 8-10 glasses of water a day could significantly ease back and joint pain for up to 80 percent of sufferers.

A mere 2 percent drop in body water can trigger fuzzy short-term memory, trouble with basic math, and difficulty focusing on a computer screen or on a printed page.

Drinking 5 glasses of water daily decreases the risk of colon cancer by 45 percent, it can slash the risk of breast cancer by 79 percent, and one is 50 percent less likely to develop bladder cancer.

And now for the properties of Coke:
In many states in the USA, highway patrol cars carry two gallons of Coke in the trunk to remove blood from the highway after a car accident.

You can put a T-bone steak in a bowl of Coke and it will be gone in two days.

To clean a toilet: Pour a can of Coca-Cola into the toilet bowl and let the “Real Thing” sit for one hour, then flush it clean. The citric acid in Coke removes stains from vitreous china.

To remove rust spots from chrome car bumpers: Rub the bumper with a rumpled-up piece of aluminum foil that has been dipped in Coke.

To clean corrosion from car battery terminals: Pour a can of Coke over the terminals to bubble away the corrosion.

To loosen a rusted bolt: Applying a cloth soaked in Coke to the rusted bolt for several minutes.

To bake a moist ham: Empty a can of Coke into the baking pan, wrap the ham in aluminum foil, and bake. Thirty minutes before the ham is finished, remove the foil, allowing the drippings to mix with the Coke for a sumptuous brown gravy.

To remove grease from clothes: Empty a can of Coke into a load of greasy clothes, add detergent, and run it through a regular cycle. The Coke will help loosen grease stains.

Coke will clean road haze from your windshield.

    For your information:
The active ingredient in Coke is phosphoric acid, which has a pH of 2.8. Phosphoric acid will dissolve a nail in about 4 days. It also leaches calcium from bones and is a major contributor to the rising increase in osteoporosis.

To carry Coca-Cola syrup (the concentrate), a commercial trucker must use the hazardous material cards reserved for highly corrosive materials.

For about 20 years, the distributors of Coke have been using it to clean the engines of their trucks. mother love
