Catwoman asked:

It doesn’t seem to matter that I take vitamins or the food I eat is healthy(salad, fruits, lean meat). Every single time I diet, I get sick with cold/flu like symptoms and it is not just in spring. This has happened every time I start to diet regardless of the season. I am counting calories and eliminating 500 calories from the ones needed to maintain my weight. I am plus sized so it’s not a matter of being underweight either. Can anyone tell me why do every time I start to diet I get sick?

Maybe you are making too many changes too quickly for your body to handle. Try something new for a few days and then, if it has not made you sick, add in another healthy activity/habit until you are reaching all of your health goals. Good luck! Phoenix

You can’t lose weight by cutting things out of your diet. You can’t just stop eating. You need about 2300 calories per day to function with a normal load. Don’t listen to all the diet promises. Eat good quality whole foods and start walking each day to keep the weight down. Reduce the amount of fat you eat, don’t eat carbs after 2pm and exercise every day. Get up 30 mins earlier each day and walk around the block. As you feel stronger, add some light weight work or exercise ball work. There are plenty of books out there to show you which exercises to do. You get sick because you’re cutting nutrients out of your diet and denying your body the very thing it needs. Carol T

Hi hun I believe I have the answer for you. I weighed 235 pounds on 1-14-08 I made a decision like you have to lose weight, and deficit 500 calories to start. Then move up to a thousand calories. I too got exactly what you did SICK. The answer lies in the fat we have, when you lose weight you are shrinking, and in a way eliminateing fat cells. The fat we have craves energy to be sustained. So the body gets sick and the system gets shocked when you deficit you are “lacking” so now the body digs in to the fat stores . Listen to me stick to it exercise is your best weapon for fighting the fatigue. Whatever you do don’t give up only after months of doing this will the body accept this as the way it is. If yougive in to the sickness your body will then be in a fasting mode. I have lost my extra 35 pounds I now weigh 200 but I was sick a good 6 weeks. I had a physical I have no diabetes or thyroid. Make sure to get that checked. Otherwise deficit to the new you. I have also played with lipovox and hoodia they are good appetite suppressors. Because when you are as fat as me. You have a roaring stomach used to getting everything without ever having 1 pang. Good luck sweetie and WE can do it. CurlyBella26
